Do traditional models of consumer choice work in a healthcare system where often neither the patient nor the doctor focuses on cost? Building on Q3's discussion of healthcare, the Yale SOM Alumni Association hosted a panel discussion with SOM faculty and alumni experts at the Union Club of Boston.

Howard P. Forman, MD, MBA, director of the Yale MBA for Executives: Leadership in Healthcare program and the MD/MBA program, moderated an exploration of whether traditional models of consumer choice work for healthcare decisions. The panelists were Guy Fish '94, MD '85, Fletcher Spaght Ventures; Christopher LaFarge '80, FES '80, president and CEO, Sensors for Medicine; and Fiona Scott Morton, professor of economics, Yale SOM. The event took place on Thursday, September 18, 2008.
